Lawyers Referral Service
The Massachusetts Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service is one of the largest referral services of its kind in the nation. Since its inception in 1974, the MBA LRS has helped thousands of people find the resources they need to solve their legal problems.

Unlike for-profit referral agencies, the LRS is a public service program dedicated to directing callers to the most appropriate resources, whether that is one of our attorney panel members, the state attorney general’s office, a legal service agency or the MBA’s own Dial-a-Lawyer Program.

Continuing Legal Education
The MBA’s Office of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) is committed to the preparation and presentation of high-quality professional development programs on topics of interest and concern to the members of the bar. Working closely with MBA Sections, the MBA offers more than 100 CLE programs each year. These seminars, luncheon roundtables, forums and conferences focus on recent cases, new legislation, emerging legal trends, new rules of practice and procedure, and issues of law practice management.

Ethical Inquiries
The Massachusetts Bar Association realizes that ethical concerns arise in every attorney’s practice. To help, the MBA’s Committee on Professional Ethics offers a variety of options for attorneys who have specific ethical inquiries or want to stay abreast of the newest Opinions of the Committee on Professional Ethics. This service is free of charge to all members of the bar in Massachusetts.

Volunteer Opportunities
The MBA offers many ways attorneys give back to the profession or to the public. From monthly dial-a-lawyer telephone services to elder-law outreach efforts to job shadow and mock trial programs for high school students, the attorney members of the MBA put their skills and knowledge to work on a volunteer basis every day of the year.
