To submit an evaluation of a Massachusetts judge, all participants are required to register. While the Massachusetts Bar Association respects members' personal and professional privacy, registration is necessary to ensure the accuracy and legitimacy of the information collected in the online Judicial Evaluation process.

Registration involves providing a member's last name and valid Massachusetts Bar Association Membership ID Number (found on the MBA member card) and creating a password. Once that ID Number and name have been verified in the MBA database, the participant's password will be activated and he/she will be able to access and begin completing the Judicial Evaluation form. On subsequent visits to the Judicial Evaluations Web site, returning participants will only be required to enter their Member ID Number and password.

How it works
Once a participant submits his/her Member ID Number and last name for verification, the participant's Member ID number is encrypted and stored in a secure database, which generates an anonymous identification number that is used to ensure data validity and link demographic data with the evaluation questions. At no time shall a participant's name or personal identity be directly linked to his/her evaluation responses or demographic data.

What if I can't find my MBA Member ID Number?
Member numbers are printed on MBA membership cards. They also can be found encoded on the address label of some MBA publications. If you require additional assistance, please call MBA Member Services, as (617) 338-0530.

What if I forget my password?
If you cannot remember the password you created on your first visit, you will be required to create a new password. This is the best way to ensure the accuracy and legitimacy of the evaluations.

Why do you need demographic information?
The additional information requested upon registration is used to help analyze participants' responses and to gather statistical information on possible trends or issues in the judiciary. This demographic information is confidential and is not stored with a participant's personal identification information.
